Programming your SatNav

Your Satnav can be programmed by entering the Latitude and Longitude given below. Postcodes can be a bit of a hit and miss affair. Sometimes a postcode covers a big area and while you may be in the vicinity of where you want to be, locating that final step can prove elusive and frustrating. Using the latitude and longitude option of your satnav will take you to the exact location of the car park.

Parking at the Glen Nevis Visitor Center

The Glen Nevis Visitor Center car park is located approx. 1.5 miles from the roundabout in Fort William located next to the River Nevis. Follow the road (Belford Road) signposted for Glen Nevis. The car park and Visitor Center are on the left-hand side of the road as you approach from Fort William. There is parking for approx. 80 cars. Latitude: 56°48'38.90"N Longitude: 5°4'38.17"W

Postcode

In case you either don't want to, or can't, use Latitude / Longitude, the postcode for the Glen Nevis Visitor Center is: PH33 6PF, however, this will leave you approx 1 mile short of the Visitor Center itself. The next postcode along that road is PH33 6ST which will take you a little ways past the Visitor Center so keep an eye out for the car park on the left.

There is a charge to use the car park at the Visitor Center, currently the cost is £6 per car per day and £10 per minibus / motorhome / coach per day.

Pro-tip - there are toilets at the Visitor Center you can use! Please note that the Visitor Centre toilets can only be used during opening hours.

Parking at the Braveheart Car Park

The Braveheart car park is located approx. 1 mile from the roundabout in Fort William located just beside the River Nevis. Follow the road (Belford Road) signposted for Glen Nevis. There is parking for approx. 30 cars. It is normally used for walks through Glen Nevis rather than tackling Ben Nevis itself. The car park is on the right-hand side of the road as you approach from Fort William. Latitude: 56°48'56.65"N Longitude: 5°4'46.64"W

The Braveheart car park is currently free to use.

Parking at the North Face car park

The North Face car park is located approx. 1 mile from Torlundy, which is 2.5 miles north of Fort William on the A82. The car park is located by following the Forestry Commission signs leading up a forest road to the car park. The North face car park is normally used by climbers about to tackle Ben Nevis' famous cliffs and walkers who are planning to climb Ben Nevis via the Carn Mor Dearg Arete. There is parking for approx. 30 cars. Latitude: 56°50'31.07"N Longitude: 5°2'35.02"W

The North Face car park is currently free to use.

Parking at the car park near Achintee Farm

There is limited car parking near The Ben Nevis Inn at the end of Achintee Road. Before the footbridges were installed to allow crossing of the River Ness from the Visitor Center and also from the Youth Hostel this used to be one of the 'default' car parks for climbing The Ben but unless you have a pressing need to park there it is not recommended these days as spaces are so limited and the road single track for much of its length. Achintee Road car park is currently free to use.

Nevis Gorge Car Park

There is parking for approx. 40 cars at the Nevis Gorge car park. This car park is normally used for walks to Steall Falls and for tackling the 'Ring of Steall,' a four-munro bag walk, however, it can also be used by experienced walkers to tackle Ben Nevis itself via a steep climb up Carn Dearg to the south west. The road along Glen Nevis to the car park is single track for much of its length. Latitude: 56°46'38.48"N Longitude: 5° 0'3.53"W

Nevis Gorge car park is currently free to use.
